Encore

I like to pirouette
On the autumnal stage
With my headphones on
And simulate
A life less ordinary
With you as the peerless director
And me as the tempting starlet

And when the conductor
Reaches the illustrious climax
I close my eyes
Knowing that when the song ends
Reality is the following act

Is the audience aware
Of my desire for consonant applause
So I may live my life with you...
A never-ending encore
