Advice to a Friend
The words flew from my head;
I don't know what to say.
'There's something to be said';
a poem's the only way.
So many people seek
someone to fill a role;
and never seem to meet
someone who fills their soul.
'A marriage of true minds'
where hearts and souls are one
so seldom ever finds
a start before it's done.
There are those lucky few,
I count myself as one;
who grew one soul from two,
a garden in the sun.
Take joy in the moment
although you're all alone.
Take joy in the present
and find joy on your own.
For a soul mate is drawn
to a soul burning bright.
So, behold this new dawn
and take joy in the light.
