Their Long Time Marriage

THE STARS ARE FAR AWAY
AND DIAMONDS COLD
But their love is warm and sweet
Even after they have grown old,
frail, and weak.

Admiration and respect he has for her
Maybe in his own way he loves her too
Upbringing and examples to him shown
It is life's way, all he ever knew

She is the keeper of their nice home
He is the provider and maintenance man
It's her job to cook, do laundry and clean
He thinks it is all within the plan

She is so thankful to have someone
Whom she can depend upon each day
He is always there close beside her
But doesn't show affection to her dismay

He never takes her out any more
Just for laughter or the fun of it
He won't go to a house of worship
He doesn't like to go there and sit

She often feels alone and lonely
But allows her mind and spirit go free
Her hobby often takes her away
When from reality she needs to flee

She could go out alone to see others
But something holds her close within
She believes to go without her mate
Would somehow be a sin

No vacations do they ever take
Long distance driving is of the past
They hang on inspite of his illness now
With a marriage that will until death last

THE STARS ARE FAR AWAY
AND DIAMONDS COLD
Yet they are still together, and
love they continue to behold.
