A Place We Call Home

I had never written
Not one single poem
That is until
Tragedy
Struck,
my family and home

I lost my baby sister
She was murdered you see
I needed a place to go
To let my feelings
Flow free

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I had never penned a poem
In my whole entire life
But I needed away to let go
Of all this pain and hurt
And strife

Someone said to me
Write your feelings out,
Put your thoughts on paper
Make it into a poem
Something,
you can save and read
When you feel
Lost, hurting,
And alone

So I got myself some paper
I picked up my pen
I wrote my feeling’s down
And it felt good
To let it out

Then they said to me
Take that extra step
Find a place,
to post your poem
For all the world to see

So I went searching
Not really,
knowing what to do
I stumbled across
The Starlite Café
And I had found
A home

People were so kind
When they read,
these words of mine
They left their thoughts,
Behind
And it truly,
blew my mind

I thought,
these are total strangers
Oh,
but they were kind
They opened up their arms
And welcomed me
Inside

That was more,
Than three years ago
And yes
I am still here
I’ve made,
so many friends
And adopted,
family members
Too

I have searched around
And I could never find
A better poetry site
Than the starlite café

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The poets are real caring,
Loving people
Who open up their hearts
They welcome you as a friend
From the moment
You step in

The café to me
Is like a second home
The lights are never,
turned off
And someone is always
Home

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

They never lock the door
And all are welcomed inside
We are not judged by our color
or age,
Religion or hair color,
Or size

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We come from all over
Some near some far
But every poet is welcome
Here at the
Star

It has a family feeling
While other sites are cold
Inside the starlite café
Is liking stepping into
Your second
Home
A Place
Where everyone
Belongs
