Skye (A Dog Story)

Midnight Skye an’ Risin’ Glory
was her registered name
she gave me lots of pleasure
that's what I'd like to proclaim

my little Shelty is gone forever
never to be seen again
she went to a home over the rainbow
a place with no more rain

she will have no more pain
there's plenty of food
someone will play with her
she will take whatever is stewed

i miss her like crazy
for she was my shadow
always beneath my feet
or sleeping in her bunko

we called her Skye
but she was my queen
she ended up with kidney failure
when she was fourteen

it was with mixed feelings
to see her go
I would like to keep her forever
but it was better for her to go

I have memories of her birth
I was there all along
she gave me lots of pleasure
it was time for me to be strong
