Have You Seen My Country?

Have you seen my country,
with it’s mountains and it’s streams;
and all of the great beauty
that is found in lover’s dreams?

Did you walk upon the seashore
and build castles in the sand?
Did you sit and watch a sunset
as you held your lover's hand?

Photobucket

Or did you see beyond it all
to the ghettos filled with fear;
where mothers hold their children
and never stop the tears.

Did you watch the sunlight fade
in a city filled with lights,
and wonder how the homeless
get through the winter nights?

HOMELESS CHILDREN

Did you listen to the melody
of songbirds in the trees,
as a child cries out in hunger
and the world ignores her pleas.

Take a tour and see the sights,
but look beyond the glare,
this world depends on each of us
we must now learn to share.
