I Will Not Write Of The Irishman
By La Belle Rouge

I vowed ta meself ‘nere ta write of him
who once owned this heart of fire
‘”Ner ta remember warm coffee eyes
filled wi joy, devilment and desire
No I’ll not write of tha Irishman
‘ner, oh ‘ner, shall I think of him
for if my thoughts on him linger
twould be ta me but anuther sin
And sin I did when thinkin of him

wiout tha rememberin of his voice

and it left a colleen no choice
but ta long ta hear it in her ear
when awake in tha middle of night
nor dare I to think of his darlin lips
No t’would be not a’tal gud nor right
ta imagine the wild meltin kisses

I’ve forgatten about him in time

And I’ll not recall the wey his hands
so skillfully spoiled all me treasure
Tall he was and plenty strong too
and well learned in weys of pleasure
No moonlit nights nor candleglow
shall er make me blush wi the thought
of me and that darin darlin Irishman
a’doin all tha things we had not ought
No I have vowed to meself long agu
to barr him well from me mind
for ta think on such luv won and lost
would not to me pur heart be kind
So do not ask me to write of him
for sure I’ll refuse ta do so
Me thoughts about tha Irishman
if they come then they must gu
