Once my life was whole and right
I had found my reason to smile
My heartbeat I felt for a while
Easily, words I could recite
Now new days open with a sigh
Reality faced with a heart of stone
Once again a life suffered alone
For those memories passed I cry
I try in vain to forget
That smile so soft, so sweet
Waiting, that next moment we meet
Easy memories that never quit
Just the mention of a name
Quickly puts a smile on my face
Enough to make my pulse race
Yet life's reality stays the same
All those memories so easy to find
Filling my thoughts day to day
Difficult it is to put the past away
That certain smile held in mind
I find it very hard to say
This dream I visit so often
Anything for my heart to soften
