Remembering Me

Remembering Me
By La Belle Rouge

you can run, faraway, so far
close forever the bulky volume
of my adoring love poetry
but you will never outrun
lingering memories of my love
or the power of my words
to caress your forlorn heart
and set your passion afire

you have firmly purposed
never to think of me....but
think of me you do and will
until you have no thoughts
yes, it’s true i’ll still be there
in all your fleeting thoughts
in the final feeble heartbeat
in your last labored breath

would to God you had never
said you loved me, wanted me
then crushed my soul to dust
with a heavy heel of indifference
you will think of me, long for me
remember what you discarded
curse the same breath wherein
you whispered deceitful love words

you’ve not been happy since
no one can love you like i did
you will never be happy again
you spit in the face of fate
and mistook treasure for trash
none can warm your cold bed
or your numb, slowly dying heart
you’ll live and die remembering me
