Postcard from Exmoor (England)

The Song of the Llama

You have to laugh don’t you?

That snooty young camel just came waltzing by.
It was all I could do not to spit in her eye!
Her toffee-nosed attitude gives me the hump.
If I could get at her I’d give her a thump..ing!
For years now the children have loved and adored me
their sticky small fingers have patted and pawed me-

and then, out of nowhere this madam appears,
with the ugliest face, and the silliest ears,
a miserable look and an ugly- toothed smile
and really bad breath that is hardly beguile..ing!
But summer approaches and soon she’ll be moulting,
and then they will see she is truly revolting!

SO THERE!

(This is my first children's poem. It was published on 1st Jan 2008 in a book called 'Take a Peek..' I travel a lot and it is one of a series of POSTCARD poems I try to write from each place I visit.)
