In A Crescent Moon

In A Crescent Moon
By La Belle Rouge

last night i shared a smile with you

i glanced up into the midnight sky
there it was....the crescent moon!
cradled in the bottom of its curve
i saw two lovers lying side by side
covered by a soft blanket of stars

volume of poetry held in his hand
her head resting on his shoulder
she listened intently as he read
words of love, such sweet little lies

oh the power of sweet little lies
to make love almost believable
touching every part of each other
shamelessly ‘neath a star blanket

no fear of falling back to earth
i thought the night would never end
cuddled together in our gold cradle
that you hung for me in a black sky
so long ago, so far away, so briefly

last night we shared a smile again
