Words And Thoughts

They tumble and ripple through my mind
Cascading like a waterfall much of the time

A mixture of life’s complexities and pain
Knowing that even in losses, I shall gain

I reach for sentences or a phrase
somehow they appear and then erase

I swim to the bottom to search for the jewels
like a carpenter who has lost his tools

Thinking of friends growing older
concerned as they sense their world getting colder

Through it all thoughts of my beloved son in prison
needing medical care, depending on compassionate decision

Lying on the couch, pondering so many different situations
praying to Him whose love rules, above all regulations

Suddenly it seems I have swum up from the deepest sea
faith soaring as my heart sings, my spirit set free

Nothing has changed except from deep within
the bondage broken that had sealed my pen

A miracle again is what it seems to me
after traveling through desert, water I now see
