We Are Lovers

we are lovers
the ones who bleed romance
and vision veiled nuances of passion
those who pay the price for our heat
with every beat of our hearts
the fire of desire flows though our veins
with every breath we inhale love
and exhale poetry of the gods
we are lovers in stolen daydreams
and through the night we lie together
in all the enchanted places and ways
our inventive minds have created
we are keepers of the flame
the eternal fire of man and woman
that quickly blazes white hot
then slowly burns us down to embers
no one knows we are lovers
but we cannot deny it to ourselves
though we may deny it to each other
lovers soul and body in a sweet fantasy
