April 17, 2007

The blood ceased its unwavering flow
Through my once hallowed soul;
My heart's final voluntary beat
Is forever devoted to you
April Seventeenth.

Even though my oxygenated fluid
Still runs its reluctant course,
The cavernous mystery
Of my once healthy palpitation
Will perpetually remain
In its isolated chambers.

And, yes, I will continue to exist,
Circulating through our common valves,
Which are now divided by exoteric animosity
Caused by my irregular pulse.
But my heart's untimely finish
Has left me here acutely departed
Since April 2007.
