Dreams of yesterday fill my head
As memories of you appear there
All I ever wanted was your love
Someone to entrust my heart to
I never fit within your world
Our lives never quite touching each others
Hoping for understanding always a touch away
As tears on my pillow flowed so gently
Wishing you could walk in my footsteps
Finding understanding of why I am me
For hidden beneath the gauze you see
Are wounds not wanting to be reopened
My heart aches as softly love calls to me
Only to find it empty of caring and tenderness
As a myriad of my emotions overwhelm me
Wishing you could be there with love in return
So I will let you go to find your way
I shall stand within the shadows of your memory
Always blending in with days gone by
Never stepping out in the glow of love to be
