Take My Hand
Darkness all around me
I feel the agony and pain
will I ever have freedom
or will I feel love again?
My sins have over overcome me
I feel I'm in despair
I'm searching for an answer
Is anyone out there?
It seems I feel a presence
but in the blackness I can't see
I feel someone beside me
and a hand reach out to me
'Come to me, my child'
I hear a sweet voice say
I answer it so swiftly
'Please take my hand and lead me away'
'Lead me away from this evil
I put my hope in you
Please tell me who you are
and what that I must do.'
'Just place your trust in me, child
I'll lead you to the light
I'll change your sinful heart
and I'll make your future bright'
'For I've been in death's darkness
but I now hold the key
And if you will come with me
we'll be together in eternity'
It was then that I realized
this was the voice of the man
I had learned about in childhood
who had given us salvation's plan
'Is that you Jesus?'
I ask the voice I hear
'Yes, it's me, child
I'm always standing near'
Explosions of light go off
in the region of my heart
I know without a doubt
I've been given a brand new start
'Thank you dear Jesus,
for rescuing me
When I was in sin's prison
you set this captive free'
