AS TIME SLIPS AWAY

They were just two old folks
dancing slow ‘cross the floor;
you could see in his eyes
she’s the one he adores.

In their day they were something,
they could dance with the best,
boogie woogie and waltzes,
they danced without rest.

He was always so handsome
and she dazzled the guys,
they were so much in love,
and it showed in their eyes.

Sixty years now together
this might be their last dance,
for the doctor has told them
there is not any chance.

So tonight they cling tightly,
holding sorrow at bay;
for a moment they’re young
as the time slips away.
