East from West
When I feel like I'm drowning in trouble
and the waves seem to be crushing me
or when agony causes me heartache,
I'm running scared, and I struggle to breathe
The world's lies and sins encompass, confused
I'm blinded by the darkness around me
Hurtful words scream over and over
There are penetrating scars, with each
When the spoken truth has faded away,
I grasp for it back so helplessly
Each terrible vision and past regret
I want to have as a distant memory
It's in moments like this that I look up
As a hand reaches out, a word, I can't speak
God's reaching for me, when I'm falling down
It's in His comfort, refuge, I seek
When my heart has been wounded by the world,
He carries me when I'm too weak
I thank Him for His love and guidance
As His child, with Him, I'll spend eternity
