Genesis Nemesis

I turned my clocks back to the times
When Adam and Eve reigned this land.
Mankind could have the upper hand
If only I convinced Eve to eat limes.

'But limes are bitter,' she said to me
As we drew closer to the forbidden tree.
'Eve, limes will make you intelligent.'
So I handed her our all-purpose detergent.

She ate it, but still had quite the appetite,
So I handed her another... gone in one bite.
'I don't feel any smarter, and I'm still hungry..
The serpent was right, you are a phony.'

I refused to abandon my appointed crusade
And handed her a Dole banana instead.
Her hazel eyes changed to a shade of jade
As she bashed the banana over my head.

When I arose from unconsciousness,
I noticed Eve wearing a fig dress...
Adam working doubles just to pay the rent,
Dying soon after his retirement.
