You Never Left Me
I knew that floral scent was you,
when I was just the age of two.
You came into my room and held me tight,
I slept like a baby all through the night.
I never doubted your existence,
and spoke of you often with persistence.
I found you when I was a mere child,
I felt you beside me when I walked down the aisle.
I saw you shine in my baby’s eyes,
Bright shining stars straight from the skies.
Oh precious Father divine and true,
whispers of faith will always shine through.
You are my strong rope,
my clenched fist of hope.
You carry me through the rough waters,
and give me support when I reach for high towers.
When I’m in pain my Father, I whisper your name.
A feeling of peace hovers over me, my inner eye can truly see.
You give me strength and great spiritual song,
I was nothing before you came along.
You empower me Lord , you plant the seed,
spiritual health, in my soul doth feed.
You are my ever glowing light, in distance far and near.
Father, you never left me, you are always here.
