Mom's Mask

The pumpkins carved and ready
The treats ready to handout
We are all dressed, their
Faces painted to match

The costumes they wore
A clown ,red ,blue and green
An angel all white and sparkling
My niece a witch in black, grey and green
The Lion all ferocious, yellow, orange and brown

My outfit just my normal clothes
Their aunt was taking them out
It was my turn to hand out candies
So Kisses they did give and hugs so sound

Their laughter echoing
As they went on their rounds
The children at the door constant
So much for a quiet night

As they return I wonder why so many
Commented on my costume
I wasn't wearing one
As my family returns

They ask me why
Why didn't I wash their
Kiss marks of my face
Followed by the young exuberant troop

I walk into the bathroom
To see the very colourful
Yet distinct lip prints
They had left covering my face

Laughing while munching on treats
They ask if next year Mom will
Wear the same mask.......
