She headed to the home at the end of the road
Hadn't been there in so long; such a heavy load
The last time had been bad; she'd vowed it was the last
Here she was one more time...returning to the past
I suppose some souls never know why they return
For so many bridges in the process did they burn
But that was home and loved ones live in their
She had thought it over well; said so many prayers
Some let foolish words destory a family at times
As she'd thought about it; she decided tis a crime
Not so easy to say I'm sorry, but tis better than goodbye
She was strong and had worked it through ..she sighs
Down the winding road, she can see her home
Lights are flickering in the breeze; she is alone
Fighting so many emotions as she goes
Feels wind blustering going through clothes
Was it the chill in the night that made her shake
Or was it what awaited her not far..beyond the gate
She would place her hand on knocker hanging there
As she had done so many times - never scared
What would they say when they saw her face
They had sent her off with such deep disgrace
They had been wrong, but did they know that now
She had forgiven them...wondering sometimes how
Climbing the steps she almost lost it all
Felt so faint thought that she could fall
Through the window she would see inside
She would enter and she would do so with pride
And so she knocked and someone came to the door
She did not know who this was ..or she wasn't sure
Confused he took her coat and asked her in...
Lord hold me tight, now it will begin...
A quick glance around the room; they were all there
Shocked, to say the least...and they did stare
She said hello and looked each one in the face
With tears in eyes they held her gently in place
banished once yet embraced with love...
