Snowflake Dance
Noticing the grey of the sky, I knew it was about to snow
I could feel the chill in the air, I pulled my hat down over my ears
A silent snowflake zigzagged, finally touching the earth
Then another followed, until the ground was covered in white
looking as if it were dusted with a layer of powdered sugar
And it kept falling, each snowflake dancing to their own drumbeat
Some spiraling, some falling straight, others zigzagging
I noticed a few that twirled, falling fast, then gliding slowly down
Different shapes, different sizes, each had their own special dance
One snowflake I noticed, a mind of it's own, spun through the breeze
Flowing and turning, it seemed to be dancing the waltz
I watched it from the moment it fell, such a grand dancer
As I moved my feet, I pretended to have a dance partner
Elegantly I moved through the snow, a waltz of my own
I danced to the music, each word and each beat
Of the snowflakes coming down to rest at my feet
I watched them twirling, diving, some even colliding
I'm sure I heard them giggling as some melted to the ground
And there I danced in the cold, on this wintry day
The snowflakes and I in our own little parade
