Decadent Reflections
Before I laid me down to sleep
In the wee hours of a new year, a new decade
Reflecting upon life in the past ten years
I realized how far I have come, how blessed I’ve been
What an amazingly unpredictable decade
I would have never imagined this place, this story, this journey
Yet here I am a witness to miracles, to magic, to mystery
Here I am with a heart full of gratitude, a life full of blessings
A soul strengthened by struggles, worries, unanswerable questions
Rejoicing in the joy, the happiness and the acceptance
That provide the courage to always believe anything’s possible
2010 births new beginnings, new surprises, and undiscovered blessings
Excitedly I face the unknowns realizing where I’ve been, where I’m going
Are all a part of my life’s journey, all moments of meant to be
With hope in my heart and belief in everything’s reason
My goodbye kiss to yesterday lingers on my grin towards tomorrow
As I fall to sleep in the comfort of yesterday’s memories
Peacefully content that everything is going to be alright
I awake embracing the dreams of a new day, a new year, a new decade
