Rumble Seat Lovin

Mom and Dad hitched a ride

in a Rumble seat on the back of a car

It was their first encounter by far

Love is like hitching your hopes to a Star

Mom was sixteen and never been kissed

Dad simply swept her off her feet and never missed

a date after that except when he feel asleep

Dad was a 'cobbler' and had his own shop

at the mature age of twenty-two old enough to woo

Mom who worked at the dime store across the street

They tied the knot with a marriage fit for the elite

Within a year I appeared wrinkled and screaming

Now sixty-nine years later, I am still dreaming

the same old Valentine verses that ignited the love

sweeping through the ages where Lovers in a Cove

hear sounds of twittering and see stories in Stars

of Orion and Bears and Dippers too riding in a car

with a Rumble seat

hitching your hopes to a Star
