Some Came Home

In 1943, my daddy went to war
Sailing on a Navy ship
To the island of Iwo Jima and many more
The good Lord brought him safely home!

About 1952, my cousin's husband went to war
It was the Korean conflict
She didn't see him anymore
The good Lord took him home!

In 1960, my husband went to war
Sailing on a Navy cruiser
Anchored off the Vietnamese shore
The good Lord brought him safely home!

In 1968, my brother went to war
To the hot Vietnamese jungles
He's not himself anymore
But the good Lord brought him home!

In 1985, my son gave his life to the Navy
20 years he helped keep us safe
I'm so proud of him and his bravery
I thank the Lord for bringing him home!

These are just a few of America's veterans
Who have paid the ultimate price
Leaving their homes and freedom
Many still have battles to fight.

Support our brave men and women
Show them that you care
Write letters, send them by the Postman
Always remember them in prayer!

They're not faceless, nameless creatures
They are the boys and girls next door,
fathers, mothers, daughters...
and they deserve so much more!
