I Cradle It

The fragrant breeze stirs me
         and those leaves
                                   I sit
                  cradling a slightly scarred dream
         in tired arms
perhaps to you it seems so bland
         not a dream at all
but I know thousands of moths
are drawn to its light
or is it an aurora of dreams long gone?
         never quite sure these days
still                            I cradle it
knowing if I allow it to wander
it will lose its way
the corner of Fate Street and Destiny Avenue
can be quite confusing you see
so                            I cradle it
                  a scissored silhouette
aspiring to grow up
to be so much more than subliminal
