YOUR ROSES BLOOMED TODAY

My grandmother and my mother
both loved to be in the garden.
My grandmother had the most
beautiful rose bush by her front porch
and every year it put out beautiful flowers.
Both my mom and grandmother are
in heaven, so this is for them.

Your roses began to bloom today
and I thought I could see you there.
You always loved the beautiful rose,
they were nurtured by your tender care.

The grass is growing so green this year,
how you loved it’s feel on your feet.
I close my eyes and see you once more,
yes, the memories are so bittersweet.

The birds are singing your favorite tunes,
God's songs about nature and spring.
Oh how I wish you could still be here,
how I’d love to hear your voice sing.

But you are now in the heavens above,
I know you are planting God’s flowers,
I will keep watch o’er your roses until
the angels tell me ‘tis my hour….

'If seeds in the black earth can turn into such
beautiful roses, what might not the heart of man
become in its long journey toward the stars?'
— G.K. Chesterton
