Get Rid Of The Advertisements

nearer still

night fills my heart with fear and dread
as sparrows cease and owlets call
day vanishes and in its stead
these visions dire, when shadows fall.

as sparrows cease and owlets call
in former days this change of guard
was pleasant thing...but after all
the past is gone. these days are hard

day vanishes and in its stead
the darkness overwhelms with fear
no lullabies upon my bed
but hellish landscapes there appear

these visions dire, when shadows fall
are worse than nightmares, more than dream
methinks such omens as enthrall
are closer to us than they seem.
