If You Can't Say Anything Nice...

Better left unsaid, these words
Thoughts kept best under tongue
Say nothing at all if naught can be said
Of nice or good to come
Hold closed one's breath with negatives
None need the grace of word
The ignorant speak just of good
As bliss be all they heard
When last they come a knocking
Never praise your being right
Cradle them close and wipe their tears
Like the dust of summer's night
They dared to dream impossible
Tis' not a cause for laughs
He'll judge each man on courage held
In the land of ever aft's
For never the man who spoke the worst
Has faced his dreams anew
To find in hope the best still fail
And then you'll need their shoulder too
