Patchwork Dreams

Stars are made for wishing upon

And my wishes are scattered

Throughout this heavenly night

Each one came from the soul

Within

Mesmerized by the thought of you

Gathering another big dipper of what if’s

On this cold, cloudy evening-

Where warmth looks for

A collective embrace,

Or the residue of our

Jamaica dance to the steel drums;

Let's chance; love finds its way again

My remnants seem to fade

Into patchwork dreams

All frayed around the edges

I don’t always wish

Yet when I do

I wish for you
