Two Boys

This poem was written by our mom
Wilhelmina(pauline)Ditchman
For her two brothers that were
serving in the military during World War 2
One was a marine and one was in the army
this poem was written in October 1946.
She is gone now but forever in our hearts

Two boys had I,very close to my heart
Two boys had I,but now were we're apart
The war called them both, away from my side
Their courage soon, to be tested and tried
Through years of hardship, of battles and tears
How often I prayed for relief from my fears
And then the strife ended as all battles do
I hoped my boys too,had come safely through
One boy came home,my heart was at ease
One boy lies asleep, forever in peace
The winds of the Pacific blow soft o'er his grave
This boy whom I loved, but love couldn't save
