Halycon days in perennial Eden
Wind blown leaves, sunbeam kissed
slumbering Oaks in the Autumn sun
Sprinkling their leaves one by one
As they fall like golden snow
Cooler breezes begin to blow
and soon the Oaks denuded stand
like skeletons across the land
On bare roots branches lay strewn
Boughs break from Autumn's tune
Winter camouflages branches in snow
'Til Summer visits and leaves shall grow
Pots and tubs are planted
With Winter loving plants
Little Robin treads the trees
And hops from branch to branch
Gnarled boughs of busy highways
Squirrels descending to their pantries
Cherished spoils in a myriad of pathways
Acorns abundant answer their forays
Daffodils are planted to herald in next Spring
The Swallow gone to warmer climes, now rests his weary wing
The sun is setting tiredly in a Technicolour sky
Halloween comes 'round once more, bonfires and Pumpkin Pie
Scarecrow's sleepy, looking thin
Crows are busy tucking in
Farmer flaps his arms in despair
Black clouds rising; Crows clawing air
Autumn leads us into Winter
and prepares us for the cold
Imparting memories to be cherished
and later be retold
