Get Rid Of The Advertisements

General Assembly

I'm a little sloppy with my pronouns, and their referents. That really hurt understanding of my poem Occupy This!. My intent is that We outside of quotes speaks of people, campers or not, outside the formal Occupy movement and its GA government, while 'We' in quotes characterizes what was said in GA by movement people.

They call it GA;
'Where stuff gets decided
By consensus,' they say,
All things one sided.
The campers, save few,
Aren't there assembled.
'What can we do?
They must be re-schooled
In good Marxist theory
And process concerns'
Frustrated and weary,
Discussion turns
To how night intruders
could be kept away.
'Drunk homeless looters
The movement betray.'
Gandhi by contrast
Had agenda devised
To forward the interest
Of people despised
By clubby elitists,
Homegrown or Raj.
GA opportunists
Do pay homage
To folk in hard times.
Claiming to speak for
All us ninety-nines.
But what do they offer?
Why not just camp?
Their hot air is welcome
Though they bring no lamp.
As they beat their drum.
