IF I SHOULD DIE TOMORROW

Bart Millard’s lyrics for his
award winning song,
‘I Can Only Imagine”,
grew out of a period of
personal pain.
In 1991, his father
passed away after
a long battle with cancer.
When people told him
that his father would
choose heaven over
coming back.
Bart, then 18 years
of age, began thinking
about what his father
was experiencing in heaven.
He soon found himself
repeating the phrase,
“I can only imagine.”

If I should die tomorrow,
please don’t weep for me,
for you must understand,
my spirit's been set free.

I now can walk with angels
greet my family gone before;
I can look upon my Savior’s face,
and stand on heaven’s shore.

My earthly cares all left behind,
I’ll rest in love’s embrace;
there is no way I can describe
the beauty of that place.

I promise I will wait for you
‘till you cross through the sphere,
I will reach out for your hand
and I’ll hold you ever near.

So If I die tomorrow,
please don’t weep for me,
for you must understand,
my spirit's been set free.

John 3:16
¶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
