Get Rid Of The Advertisements

My First Doorstep Was You

I recall that day we first unpacked
The first that we moved in
And as I do, here late at night
Sweet prickles fill my skin

I was filled with the excitement
That I knew would surely come
That all important first night home
With you.. My all.. My one

Back then the first of many days
My dreams have come to be
I watched that first box open
And it meant the world to me

We knew we'd stumbled 'pon the love
That filled us to our bone
And here we were, the key in lock
To open up our home

Now as we grow, and fate has found
The door shall soon be closed
I'm filled with so much sadness
More than ever I'd supposed

We move forth, but that first moment
All I saw was you
We ate but toast and drank but tea
As all our dreams come true

When finally we close the door
And hand them back the key
I hope you know, with all my heart
You hold that memory

And as we move to better things
I'll always see your face
That turned around, and smiled at me
'Welcome home baby.. To our new place'
