A Tear

A Tear

yesterday I found a tear resting
softly upon my cheek, like a waif
who had lost its way... perhaps it was

left behind by memories drifting through
dreams or by a wish still not granted...
I reached to touch, to gather it within

my hands, to hold it closely, but my
fingers still, sensing its comfort,
its contentment to simply be just

what it was... a reminder of those words
spoken in silence, an intimate whisper
lingering in its moment, a rainbow

searching for its colors, a gift
from another promising me
I will never be forgotten...

yesterday I found a tear resting
softly upon my cheek... and I
wept so it would not be alone

written for the Simplicity SFITB Challenge
phrase: perhaps it was left behind
by memories
