Skeleton Walk

The chapel stands by a quiet stream
with splintered walls and falling beams
nearby some ancient graves are found
within the lonely chapel grounds.
Inside the chapel an old clock ticks
now residing on broken sticks
a dozen strikes heard at midnight hour
chapel bells ring from the old leaning tower
Beneath the ground where two souls lie
unusual frenzy was heard inside
appearing in their skeleton form
two skeletons walking arm and arm
They once lived in this ancient town
now decided to visit around.
Clickety Clack went their skeleton bones
swaying along tripping on stones
In their bony unison they walked through space
looking in vain for their ancient place
broken down houses and no one in sight
the clock struck one, t`was the end of their night

Long spindly fingers and fleshless knees
in ghostly silence walked `neath twisted trees
they clicked and clacked and danced away
back to their grave where their bones now lay.
