Get Rid Of The Advertisements

A Riverwind Girl

photography by flytiger

I am a riverwind girl...

The river defines my boundaries,
gives me identity. It pulls me
to bluegrass festivals, ballgames
and boat races.

When it floods it separates me
from everything I love.

My poetry reflects its rhythm,
the draw and flow toward something
bigger, the way January snows
and April rains are gathered
and rolled to the sea.

I breathe a part of the river ghost,
the “riverwind” in each verse,
hoping it will also carry the reader
to bigger places....

And I'm a Catholic cat lover,
a Teutonic tree hugger,
a nervous grandmother,
a waltzer in winter, forever
true to my Capricorn soul.
