The Dance of Lovers

Eyes meet
Flicker
Shoulders touch
Shudder
Fingers brush
Recoil
Breath quickens
Tremble
Step away
Return
Passing by
Close
Words spoken
Softly
The dance of lovers has begun

Lips smile
Inviting
Private thoughts
Shared
Two are one
Together
Everyone else
Aware
Lovers moments
Always
Independent beings
Harmonious
Hearts aflame
Embrace
Clasped in the dance of lovers

Moments held
briefly
Never owned
borrowed
Never still
Dancing
Dream time
Kissing
Tempo quickens
Urgent
Eyes alight
Trapped
Music stops
Silence
The dance of lovers ends
