Poetic Rebirth

carried under my heart
in the bowels of existence
in the cocoon of contemplation

where morphs the caterpillar
into winged creature

like a fetus whose hidden movements
identify, endear it, when as yet
its face and form remain unseen

feeble movements grow stronger
and push hard against time

assuming birth position within
the season of cruel labor
soon to be rewarded with substance

ancient words of new wisdom live, breathe
as i am born to become a living poem

blow swirling winds of transformation
i will ride you with newly unfurled wings
and kiss the cloudless, endless sky
